EXAMINING THE IMPLICATION OF CONFLICT MANAGEMENT STRATEGY IN ACHIEVING ORGANIZATIONAL GOAL: A CASE STUDY OF NATIONAL POPULATION COMMISSION-ABUJA

Abstract


The ability to successfully minimize and resolve conflict is an important skill for Management to develop. A major reason for this is that management is faced with the classic confrontation between individual needs and organizational needs, requiring them to spend a major part of their time attempting conflict mediation. The facts remain that conflict is inevitable in any organization. The broad objective of the study is to examine the implication of conflict management strategy in achieving organizational goal. The research methodology applied in the study was the usage of questionnaire method. The questionnaire serves as a major tool for the collection of data for the study. The data collected in this study was analyzed statistically by the use of frequency tables, percentage and Chi square method. Some of the recommendations proffered in the study were that organizations should employ the use of integration method in solving conflict. There should be an effective communication channel in order for the resources to be put in their best use. Management should enhance Transparency and Accountability in the exercise of governmental powers that accords with the constitution.
